More Legal New Year’S Resolutions For 2015 That You Should Consider, Part III.
For past two posts I’ve been suggesting some “legal” 2015 New Year’s resolutions for you to consider. Here is the final installment:
- Make sure you have adequate auto liability insurance. Choose at least $500,000 in coverage. If you took my advice from yesterday and have an “umbrella” policy, you may be able to buy less auto coverage and still be protected. I suggest an umbrella policy of at least $1,000,000. If you are involved in an accident and don’t have adequate liability coverage, your assets can be seized.
- Make sure you have adequate uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Again, at least $500,000. This protects you if you are injured by a driver without assets who doesn’t have insurance or has only a small amount of coverage.
- Choose the NO lawsuit limitation option on your auto policy. It does cost more. But, if you don’t have it, it could cost you big later. You might not be able to sue for your injuries in an automobile accident. Even if the other driver was at fault.
Best wishes for a safe and healthy 2015!
